Chaplaincy & Pastoral Counseling Ministries Training: “Mental Health First Aid: Caring for and Inviting All Persons into Belonging” - Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based training program certified by the National Council of Mental Wellbeing. Serving in specialized ministry settings, chaplains and pastoral counselors often encounter individuals who are experiencing crisis and trauma. In addition to offering compassionate and skilled spiritual care, learn how to recognize and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges, as well as how to provide initial support and connect these individuals with professional care. Attendees will receive 7.5 CEUs, as well as a three-year certification in MHFA.

Explore Faithful Resilience: Strengthening Families on the Move, a groundbreaking program for refugee and migrant families. This training equips leaders to implement a three-stage framework—trauma healing, resource development and faith formation—designed to reduce parental trauma, strengthen parenting skills and support children’s emotional well-being.

CBF’s Pan African Koinonia hosts the fourth annual Late Night Worship Service featuring the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Goodman, Jr. Join us for this tradition of late night services that stems from the first Watch Night service held December 31, 1862, as enslaved people gathered to worship late in the evening—watching and waiting for the news of freedom to come through the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

This year’s Thriving Excursion, supported by CBF’s Thriving Congregations initiative, will bring participants to the World Chess Hall of Fame and the St. Louis Chess Club. Following the inspiration of Jeremy Utley and Perry Klebahn in their book, IDEAFLOW—“You don’t innovate in the pickle business by eating cucumbers all day”—we will travel across town for lunch, a lesson and inspiration from a chess grandmaster that might help us see the world, ourselves and our congregations more generously, creatively and strategically.
